The Recovery and Protection in Disaster (RAPID) system is a single data point designed to meet the needs of first responders and others who have a demand for situational awareness/intelligence in critical situations. A single, mobile data access point RAPID collects, collates and processes satellite imagery from across the orbital network and presents it to the end user in a clear and user friendly manner, allowing for smarter decisions to be made from a better situational understanding.

RAPID processes raw satellite data into interactive digital maps which can be interrogated in an highly user friendly way by non-technical personnel. This provides the end user with a powerful visualisation tool that turns the raw data into actionable intelligence. The data can be delivered dynamically either by sat coms or conventionally by internet access; this flexibility allows for a guaranteed continuous flow of information as well as a quicker response to critical situations.
Though the RAPID system was designed for critical disaster situations it can also be used for more conventional operations. Thanks to its ease of use and accessibility the RAPID service can benefit various sectors of the economy (i.e. infrastructure, transport & logistics etc.) by helping to ‘fill gaps’ in their operations that otherwise would reduce their efficiency and resilience to a changing world. Through better situational intelligence mitigating or preventative actions can be taken which will then ensure the continued operation of the economy or industry even during the most dynamic of situations.
